At Aspen Morrow’s “Lunch-n-Leads” network meeting recently, these members are wearing the styles that exemplify what THIS ”Tip of the Week” is all about!
From left, Cheryl Richards, (Urban Liason Magazine) Kimberly Neering (Wellness Coach) Aspen Morrow(Legal Shield)
Recently I took a client here in Idaho shopping for a new look and a new wardrobe. We started by finding out what her best colors are, then what styles would best fit her body shape. Like many of us, we are looking to “hide” that tummy…so I thought you all might like to discover what WE did!
These styles that camoflage the tummy well I found in a recent article from MORE:

Tummy Tunic
If your tummy gives you trouble, a flowing tunic should become your new BFF.
Spanx Tank *Undergarment
Anyone who has ever tried to smooth out a waistline knows undergarments are the place to begin.
Structured Style
You might think a baggy and boxy jacket will hide a belly, but something structured and well-tailored will actually be more flattering. This peplum style gathers at the waist, offering a little room to help conceal any belly bulge you might be trying to hide.
Wrap it Up
The wrap dress is a woman’s best friend — especially when she’s trying to camouflage her tummy.
Good Jeans
With twice the spandex of regular jeans, and all the style, this denim helps slim the legs, lift the butt and keep the tummy sucked in. Who couldn’t use a little help with all that? These are Miraclebody Jeans by Miraclesuit .

Control Top
Spanx* aren’t just for undergarments. The label boasts slimming shirts that will keep your tummy in check, with 10 different colors to choose from.

Seams Like Old Times
Pull off a little body-disguising magic with a blouse that has lots of rouching. The gathers in this style help give the illusion of a thinner middle and the extra draping hides any pooches.

The Empire Strikes Back
This dress is a study in curve flattery 101: An Empire waist and an A-line sweep hide any tummy issues, while the V-neck draws attention up to the face. Pair it with a slim bottom to even out the proportions. A+!

Puttin’ on the Glitz
One easy trick to slim a stomach: Draw attention to your neckline. This embellished maxi dress has an eye-catching V-neck bib, and it’s easy silhouette is forgiving, too.

Untucked Everlasting
When you’re hiding your stomach, an untucked blouse can work wonders. This style, with its ruched bow front and shirttail hem slims and hides trouble areas.

Long and Lean
A tunic gives a belly a little breathing room, and extra detailing up top — such as this ruffled neckline — puts the focus on your face, not your middle.

Pencil it In
Think you can’t wear a pencil skirt? Think again! This Spanx* style in slimming black will whittle your waist with the help of a tummy taming-liner that will also pull in your hips and booty.

Smooth as Silk
This pull-on, elastic waist dress is roomy enough to flatter lots of different body shapes and sizes, but still sleek enough to work at the office or at play.

Dear Sue,
Want to know what blush color and type looks good on you?
Blush brightens your face, gives your face a natural contour, helps you look healthy and gives it a glow. The trick is to find that isn’t too bright and adds life to the skin. So having it custom blended just for you is a great solution.
Cool tones skin (Summer and Winter) wear shades of pink, mauve, burgandy and plum…no peachy bronze tones here!
Warm tone skin (Autumn and Spring) CAN wear bronze, coral, apricot and peachy colors..none of those pink shades.
Powder Blush… Pigment inside is a powder base. It’s the most popular type because it’s easiest to use and works well with all skin types especially oily skin. You can find these in loose or pressed formulas and is applied with a blush brush.
Mineral Powder Blush…. Same as powder blush but made with minerals, so it’s healthy for your skin. Comes in loose or pressed formulas. Those that use mineral powder makeup love this blush. It’s easy to use, the pigments are bright and a little bit goes a long way. AND I custom blend the color to match your “season”! Best applied with a “Baby Buki” Brush.
Creme (or gel) Blush …. Made with color mixed with silicone particles. It goes on sheer and smooth. Blending can be difficult but it lasts long and looks natural. Apply with fingertips before you powder your skin. Some of my clients like using both a creme (as a base) and use powder over it.

Many of you have asked for a real PLAN to help you get started with your closet clean-out…so here it is! And it really works if you follow the plan AND follow through!
I.MAKE FOUR PILES
1. Clothes you wear all the time – - (right color, fits)
a. Put back into closet
b. Put all ITEMS together: e.g.: all skirts, all pants, all blouses, all jackets. (Do NOT put “suits” together)
2. Clothes you would wear IF…they were clean or repaired
a. Put directly into trunk of car – drop off at cleaners and / or alteration professional*
b. Put soiled clothes to be washed at home I laundry room or separate container
c. Clothes that YOU will repair: attach materials needed to repair item e.g.
3. Clothes you would wear if you had something to go with it
a. Cut a swatch of fabric from an inside seam
b. Put in you color deck
4. Clothes you have not worn for the last 1 ½ years (for whatever reason)
a. Box them up, label box and store
b. Sell them at consignment store (check on-line for one in your area**)
c. Give them away (local charitable organizations)
II. FALL/SPRING CLOSET PLAN
1. Arrange use of two closet spaces (can purchase portable one)
2. Separate clothes into two categories:
a. Fall items: all woolens, sweaters, long sleeve blouses, coats
b. Spring items: all lines, cottons (lightweight) sleeveless or short sleeve blouses, shorts
3. Switch closets twice a year —fall (Halloween) and spring (Easter)
a. Keep current “season” in main closet
b. Store other “season” in second closet (wrap several items on hangers with 100% cotton housecoat)
4. Review “four piles” (sec I) Twice a year – (when switching closets)
a. Be patient with yourself AND your wardrobe -this REALLY WORKS!!
b. Be FIRM about Sec. I. #4 – it’s THE most difficult
*For my Idaho clients, I have found Fit My Curves (Ta’Melle- 371-7877-and she’ll come toyou) for alterations . Renewed Expressions for women’s clothing and Threads for men (on Fairview near Sonic Burger in Meridian) are good consignment stores.

Bored with your hair color?
It’s fun to change your hair color….and almost a must once we start turning gray! THIS IS A LITTLE MUCH, BUT DO HAVE FUN!!
I have several clients over the last few weeks who have specifically asked about what COLOR to COLOR their hair..
So here’re some guidelines …Of course, wearing the RIGHT color next to your skin, as well as YOUR COLOR make up enhances and harmonizes with your hair color!
Red hair? ABSOLUTLEY…if you have that warm, porcelain like skin tone , maybe freckles..it’s for you! (autumn )

Bright eyes? Do a lighter, golden blonde or even strawberry-red version. (spring)

Ash blonde hair doesn’t mean GREEN or GRAY–it means a platinum, wheat like color. Perfect for that soft, pretty look for a cool (summer) complexion.

If you have naturally dark hair, and a “cool” blue understone to your skin (Winter) then a high contrast look can be great…as long as there’s no golden red…try PURPLE for a change…

Too chicken to try something so different? You can have purple–or any color– hairextensions put in at a nominal fee. Or try several colors…just for fun. There’s even some sparkly hair extensions out there. Best advice–go see your professional hair stylist to try that something NEW..especially the first time. Whether you’re doing a temporary or permanent color, or an extension or two. And remember, BE PATIENT. It may take more than one visit to achieve the look and the COLOR you really want!

Spring is often a time of new beginnings..renewal..fresh starts!
Same for your make up: how and where you store it.
Before you sort through that make up drawer or basket, here’re some guidelines for the “shelf life” of cosmetics:
Foundation
· Liquid: Water Based – 12 months/Oil Based – 18 months
· Powder and Pressed Powder – 12 months
· Mineral Loose Powder – 18 + months
Concealer- 12 months
Blush
· Pressed Powder: 6 months
· Mineral Loose: 18 + months
Eye Shadow- 12 to 14 months
Eyeliner
· Pencil – 2 years
· Liquid – 3 to 6 months
Mascara- 3 months
Lipstick- 2 to 3 years
Nail Color – 1 year
Now Sort through those pencils, blushes, eyeshadows…then clean up what you decide to keep:
Eyeshadows:
If the top is “shiny” scrape the top of the surface..(use a sharp knife or single

edged razor)..toss it if it’ s still shiny after you scrape it. (oils and debris can damage the delicate eye area).

Blush:
Just like the eyeshadow, scrape off the top surface; toss it if the color won’t rub off easily on your finger. Wipe the whole container, too, so it looks renewed!
Eye and Lip Pencils:
Sharpen them then wipe the entire pencil with a facial or disinfectant wipe .

Lipstick:

Lay the tube on a flat surface then use a sharp knife to cut a slanted edge off the tip. It will renew the look and color.. Reme
mber lipstick is a wax base and so it won’t maintain bacteria. If it has an odor, though, TOSS IT!
Now just rearrange your make up collection in your drawer or basket.

You’ll be surprised what might show up and look new!
Spruce up your make up collection for SPRING by simply adding a light COLOR eyeshadow…from YOUR COLOR!

Yes, we DO have one..we need one …and it needs to be “maintained”:
Properly tweezed and shaped eyebrows open up your eyes and improve your appearance instantly. A perfect eyebrow starts from the inner corner of the eye, arches just beyond the outer curve of the iris and narrows down at the edge of the eye. This definition is the basis upon which slight changes can be applied to suit the shape of individual faces.
Brows can be tweezed, waxed, or threaded. My advice for shaping the brow by getting rid of excess hair growth? Get it professionally done… Whatever method
you prefer, you can tweeze yourself between visits.
Then fill in that brow area with a brow pencil, using short strokes or a pressed brow powder using an angled brush.
Some tips for knowing where to start, end and fill in those brows:

1. Hold a pen vertically, resting it on the nose (on a side) and ta

ke it to the inner corner of eye. At that point is where the brow sho
uld begin. (A)
2. Starting from the previous position, angle the pencil with one end resting on the extreme edge of the nostril, until it forms a straight line with half of the eye. This should be the highest point of the eyebrow. (B)
3. Hold the pen along
the extreme edge of the nostril, until it forms a straight line with the outer corner of eye. That should be the end of the eyebrow.(C)
Any fine or thick growth outside of that area needs to be removed then the brow filled in with a color that is just a shade close to your natural color hair. ARCH AWAY!!

Recently, I thought our satellite dish was broken because all of out TV’s were BLURRY…Well I’m sure you’ve figured out the rest of THAT story. A week later I was picking out glasses and realized how overwhelming that can be! So here’re some tips to help you!!
Two guidelines you need to know when choosing your next pair of glasses: Don’t duplicate the shape of your face and choose a COLOR or METAL that is in harmony with your Warm ( gold, tortoise, rust, or brown frames) or for Cool (silver, gun-metal gray, burgandy-red, or black frames) skintone:
Discover Your Face Shape
If you just asked yourself; “what in the world is my face shape?” You can simply ask a loved one (however, to preserve the love, some of you may prefer to find the answer out yourself.) To do this, simply look in the mirror and answer these easy questions:
1. (Height and Width) Is my face longer than wide? or is it about even in both dimensions?
2. Is my face wider up top than towards the bottom? or vice versa? or pretty even all the way down?
3. Do I have strong angles on my face, or is it more curved?
Keep it simple by deciding if your face closely matches to a round, square, oval, or heart shape.
How to Match A Face Shape With Glasses Frame
The overall frame width should be close to your overall face width.
1. Round – A face that is round has curved outline with the overall length and width proportions being approximately equal. A pair of glasses that are angular and narrow will lengthen and help to make a round face appear thinner. Rectangular glasses usually go very well on round faces.

2. Square – A face that has similar proportions in the length and width, as well as a strong jawline coupled with a broad forehead usually leads to a square face shape. Look for frames that will soften the facial angles and are wider than they are longer. This will lengthen the face and lead to a narrower appearance. Oval shaped lenses usually go very well with square face shapes.

3. Oval – An oval face is longer than it is wide. Using a frame that has vertical height will make the face appear shorter and well balanced. Look for frames that are deep from top to bottom, this covers a portion of the extended cheeks. Look for fun and exciting temples to add extra width to the face as well.

4. Heart – A heart shaped face is wider up top and narrows towards the chin. (Both men and women can have heart shaped faces.) Look for frames that are wider at the bottom than at the top. Lighter frames and rimless designs go very well with heart shaped faces.
